ANTHONY JOHN WARREN
Book Author
Tony Warren
Having narrowly survived the Blitz of Plymouth, Tony Warren has spent much of his working life in his two favourite cities of Plymouth and London. Among other activities, he has worked in retail management, produced fashion shows, been a librarian, a farm secretary, and been engaged in public relations.
His preferred capacity was as a lecturer and programme manager in Cornwall where often, at six o'clock in the morning, he would be opening up the equine yard on a rural college. Other activities have included being involved in the support of deaf-blind children and being a Eucharistic Minister and a master of ceremonies.
Whilst enjoying his hobby of bricklaying, he spends much time visiting and writing about the pubs of London, of which he has found many!
Sir or Not Sir
Some years ago Tony Warren was awarded a knighthood by a foreign principality for his services to education and for his support of deaf blind children from where the mother has contracted rubella during pregnancy. There was a lot of controversy about the usage of foreign titles by British subjects, this going back to Victorian times and George V.
It seems that foreigners granted a British title cannot use them in the UK; that foreigners with their native titles can use them in the UK and that British subjects with a title bestowed by a foreign country cannot use them in the UK.
As a result of his research into this hazy area, Tony has stopped using his title of knighthood in the UK. His title still appears on the covers of his three published works, which are now out of print, but when these are republished, the title will be deleted.
